Four Colonies Town Hall – TODAY
I am grateful to the Four Colonies subdivision at 79th-83rd
and Quivira for hosting me at their Home Owners’ Association forum on
Monday, November 17 at 6:30 pm, in Clubhouse 3 (81st and
Monrovia). I look forward to answering your questions about state
government!
China
As many of you read in the Kansas City Star, I was asked to participate
in a legislative exchange to China. The American Council of Young
Political Leaders (ACYPL) seeks to foster international understanding
in state legislatures through exchange programs of young
legislators. I will leave for an orientation in Washington on
December 3rd; we depart for the mainland on December 5th. During
my two-week stay in-country, eight legislators from across the country
will meet with government leaders throughout China – specifically
Shanghai, Beijing, and Xian. I will return on December 20.
Therefore, I will be unable to attend most of the Christmas parties and
other miscellaneous activities leading up to the holidays, but I am
looking forward to this amazing experience and will have plenty of
stories and pictures to share upon my return. You can learn more
about ACYPL and my trip through their website (www.acypl.org). My thanks go to
Representative Dean Newton for nominating me to the Council.
PTA, Circle, Rotary, Lions, Kiwanis, Youth Group, etc.
If your civic organization needs a speaker to
discuss federal or state government, campaigning, lobbying, etc.,
please do not hesitate to call on me. I would be happy to speak
on any topic of your choice!

INTERNS!!
If your student at Washburn, KU, KSU, or Baker is interested in
learning about public service – AND get college credit (in most cases),
please have him/her contact me! Due to a recent change in policy,
interns will now be offered a $400 stipend to serve during the
legislative session, instead of mileage reimbursement. This is a
great opportunity for students to have unique access to their
government, learn a lot, and have fun!
