Announcements
Remember the Deliberative Democracy session I held in March? Well, there was significant interest in another one, and you're invited. To increase involvement from the greater community, I'll put something in the newspapers as well. I'm thinking right after the election, before the holidays start to get crazy.
Health care was the top recommendation that came out of the last session. Let's chat.
When: Monday, November 20, 6-7:30 pm, meet-and-greet reception to follow
Where: TBA, more updates to come
How: You can sign up by replying to this email. Please sign up so we know quantities for materials and food.
Sharp Media
§ "Newsmakers with Mike Shanin" is on the website. In case you haven't caught it on cable, view the segment here by clicking on the last news item (Sept. 1): http://www.stephaniesharp.com/press.htm
§ The 17th District debate will only be airing twice between now and the election on Time Warner (Ch 17) and Comcast (Ch 22). Everest customers are out of luck for now, or until the company decides to start carrying it! In previous years, these debates have aired up to five times. The times/dates are:
o Oct 18, 7:00 pm
o Oct 29 - 7:00 pm
Opportunities
Join us for door-to-door walking parties! You provide the tennis shoes and campaign spirit, I provide everything from maps to pizza. If you've never done this, it's an easy, fun, and painless way to get to the heart of campaigning - truly grassroots.
Sunday, Oct 22nd
Saturday, Oct 28th
Saturday, Nov 4th
I would love to have you any day you can make it – let me know if/when you are able to come (some of you already have, but let me know which day(s) work for you).
Education and Personal Activities
Well, it's not technically education, but it certainly bodes well for
the next session. The Kansas economy is growing and we (you)
exceeded revenues by $83 million dollars last month. That's a
pretty huge jump. I can't wait to see next months numbers - by
the looks of Kansas Speedway this weekend and the crazy traffic, things
are looking up!
Sharp Record Tip of the Week: Just because you have a Jeff Gordon sticker on your car, doesn't give you license to drive like him.

Johnson County Election Office - www.jocoelection.org
I must say, this is the best website EVER. Any form or voting resource you could ever want is right here. My favorite? You can print out a sample ballot (thanks to Sen. Kay O'Connor) so you know exactly what you're going to see on election day. No surprises, and you can do your research.
