Friends:
From my door-to-door conversations, I can tell you as heated up about education as I am! Let me tell you, nothing gets your blood moving like hearing a Senator say "If people were just willing to compromise, we could have worked something out for education". Especially when it is said to a group that knew what was really going on in Topeka! As you all know, the House Coalition worked our rears off trying to find something the Senate would even take a look at. OK, thanks for letting me vent. J
“IKP”
Who is this Judge Bullock guy, anyway? “Inside Kansas Politics” will tackle the hottest topic of the week!
- When? Saturday, 10:00 – 11:00 am, on 1510 AM, and live at www.1510.com.
- Guests: Rep. Ward Loyd (R-Garden City), and leader of the “Education Coalition” in the House; Rep. Jim Yonally (R-Overland Park), member of the House Education Committee and longtime education specialist; and a representative from Shawnee Mission NEA.
What exactly does the decision mean to you and your family? Join us for an in-depth discussion. Call us! We would love to hear from you at 913-491-8255.
Basically, we are still in limbo. I know this is of no comfort to the teachers in my district, but we are really at the mercy of the courts on this one. The lawyers all reacted swiftly to the decision and made the right moves to delay and appeal action on Bullock’s order. Everything that can be done has been done, so have faith in that. Now we wait.

Door-to-Door
Thank you to the wonderful folks in Northwest Woods and Fairway Hills for your hospitality and interest as I walked your neighborhoods this week. You never know when I’ll knock on your door!
Where’s Waldo (Rep. Sharp)? May 8 – May 14, 2004
- We hosted IKP LIVE from the statehouse again last week, sans the technical difficulties!! Guests included Reps. Don Hill (R-Emporia), Josh Svaty (D-Ellsworth), and Jeff Jack (R-Parsons). It was GREAT to hear the different regional perspectives on education issues that were hot-and-heavy just as we were live on the air on Saturday. It was a great show, and thank you to those who tuned in!

Question of the Week!
OK, I’m finally back to using just one computer! However, I can’t find the “Boston Corbett” winner, so I’ll just have to scrap that one. Sorry about that.
Last week’s question:
What discovery do Walt Disney and a Kansas astronomer have in common?
Answer and Winner: Bob Gregor of Lenexa wins a Kansas Seal lapel pin and one of my refrigerator magnets. Kansans Clyde Tombaugh and Walt Disney have “Pluto” in common. Tombaugh discovered the planet, while Disney created the character!
New Question: Who was the first female governor of a state, to what state was she elected, and in what year?
That’s all for now! As always, please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of service to you.
